Teaching Fellow Award
The TA Program of the Graduate School invites applications for the 2008-2009 Teaching Fellow positions. The designation of Teaching Fellow signifies excellence in both teaching and graduate study and constitutes a notable academic honor. We seek Teaching Fellows with a range of disciplinary backgrounds; fair representation in terms of nationality and gender is also crucial to the continued success of the TA Program. All interested teaching assistants and teaching associates are invited to attend one of the information meetings listed on the reverse to learn more about this opportunity. No pre-registration is necessary.
The largest responsibility of Teaching Fellows is to serve as the “core faculty” during the August Teaching Assistant Orientation Program. Teaching Fellows serve as small group leaders and mentors to approximately 350 new TAs each August. For this work, Teaching Fellows will receive a stipend, some meals, and if they wish, they may live on campus during the orientation. Following the August orientation, Teaching Fellows are expected to participate, on a limited basis, in the development and implementation of TA Program activities throughout the academic year.
In order to be eligible for the Teaching Fellow award, you must attend one of the following information sessions:

Graduate Student Organization
GSO has voted to endow a child care scholarship for graduate students. The specifics are still being worked out, but the organization is hoping that the endowment will be a lasting (and useful!) legacy for this year's GSO.
The graduate activity fee, despite its nomenclature, is not merely a fund for campus activities. It funds graduate campus-wide services, special initiatives, representation to the administration, speakers and conferences, and an array of other things chosen each year by elected representatives. These elected representatives are selected in each department by the graduate students themselves. Each department is allotted one senator to represent the interests of all enrolled students in that department. It is a senator’s responsibility to work with the members of her or his own department. Any concerns conveyed to a department senator then are brought to the GSO Senate for redress.
